Keep your head up

Image
I love to share good things and recently I found this gem on Twitter - The Gospel Daily  "Always keep your head up, because if it's down you won't be able to see the blessings that have been placed in your life." This week is all about positive vibes to just take us out of the "valley" in Grand Bahama to a field of blessings. Ultimately I feel the changed required is our responsibility. We talk about the "good ole days" and wanting to turn back to that time and I realized as I have been writing this blog that while those days appeared to be so good, even better is ahead. Yesterday happened and we can each build on what we saw that we liked. I admire such persons as Sean Johnson who has "Move Marketing" who is capitalizing on the fun needed that was sooo missing. I was thinking just this week how he has been putting on events without having to wait to invite "stars", that everyone who comes out is a star in the

Your future is waiting

I was looking at the ad for r.shopify.com on Facebook and this this great title. I loved it and it went well with listening to George Clason's "The Richest Man in Babylon". Very interesting listening as it recalls that Babylon may be known for its riches in years later, that there was a time when it was not rich. Like Grand Bahama I presume it may have had times of great potential but very little going on. Several stories are told of how to make money. Now what does that have to do with Flipping Grand Bahama? Well of course, to help its residents and residents to come and to bring more investors to create more opportunities for smaller businesses. What did I learn? Well the three most important bits were: 1. A part of all your earn is yours to keep 2. Make your money your slave 3. Invest with caution. It was noted by Clason that in keeping the thought to keep part of your earnings, that you keep no less than ten person. The theory is that you use 90%

What's the new big idea?

The quiet dreamy island of Grand Bahama was very quiet for centuries and its potential was seen by an American investor who first settled in Abaco then came here. On a vision, a whim, he pictured a second Vegas/Paris/London in the Caribbean just off the coast of Florida. The idea caught on and years later we have Freeport, Grand Bahama. It was "the new world" for those persons looking for the warm weather not far from home but boasting the beautiful trees by the long stretches of beaches. It was the place to go and many came looking for a new life filled with new beginnings. The first of everything they can say they saw along with the potential being realized by Wallace Groves who dreamed up Freeport. To Bahamians this was a far fetched idea that would not work in the long run. No other project in the island did last very long so why should this. The 99 year lease was a laugh and that laughter has turned to a frown waiting for the shoe to drop ... 60 years later. Yes,

How to change the world

I came across this title recently and thought, "well really, I only want to change Grand Bahama." But of course what also came to mind was Michael Jackson's song "Man in the Mirror". The way to change anything is to begin by changing yourself. Grand Bahama needs a change in thought, a change in direction, a change in mindset to envision a change in the economy. The real goal is the change in economy. I don't have all the answers, and for questions I don't have any answers, but I feel the way forward is for me to begin by making some necessary changes. So Ive listened to Napoleon Hill's book "Think and Grow Rich" which says essentially just thinking positively will help you to grow rich. I've listened to Zig Zigler, Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Joel Osteen, and watched and read "The Secret". Zig and Les both emphasized the need to not only listen to motivational speech just once, but to do so over and over and to read
