Where are we now?

Everybody sees what they want to see. I was made to feel recently that I simply see things through rose coloured glasses because of what I feel can happen in Grand Bahama.  But I remember that Freeport itself became an entity though the vision of a man who stood in the midst of pine trees. That roads and buildings and the homes we presently occupy would not have come about if it were not for an idea that got it all started. There are many naysayers, but even when Freeport began others didn't quite catch the vision but thought we will see about it anyway. From a real estate point of view people are beginning to buy again. The banks have not been very forthcoming with loans so a lot of people are looking for lease to own. Just means people are beginning to think of other ways in which to get what they want. Not many people are allowing their properties to be leased to own but ... funds will be acquired for the purchase of a lifetime. It is still a buyers market but sl...

Indicators

Some time ago I learned that the true indicators of a turn around and stability of economy include the state of real estate and construction. In Grand Bahama this indicator has told many a tale of building and recession and building and recession. At present along with most of the rest of the world the situation is sluggish but according to what is going on in the real estate business there is a bit of movement. This is a great idea if they could find these homes but past stories have made this option rather slim to nil. But more persons are again owning homes or struggling with the banks to get their own homes back on the payment tracks. There are mo...

Slow changes

Its the middle of the years and really we are slowly sweeping into the end of 2014. What has happened so far in Grand Bahama? Well the truth is, if you want to be negative it's really easy and you can say nothing. To be realistic and positive there has been some small but steady changes. In the world of real estate, there has been some small pockets of great fortune as things change. This is one of the indicators of an economy - real estate. Another indicator is construction and although we have not seen a lot of construction going on at present some has picked up. We are still waiting for such projects as the sale of a major hotel or the building of the one projected for out East, but what about the smaller enterprises that you can work on just for you that can work itself into hiring others? What about the incubators? Grand Bahama will do well with an incubator for small businesses. This is a dream of mine and my daughters' ... to start an incubator. It's ...
