Celebrating three years...

Image
A beautiful sunrise. There is much to say for every new day. Its a chance to do something new or complete something that had already begun. Today is a great day and tomorrow we celebrate three years of this blog.. "Flipping Grand Bahama". I still run into a lot of people who have never heard of it, and some who say they read it. I'm thinking of new formats and ways of presenting reasons to change our mindset to make Grand Bahama "Grand" again. Much has happened in the past three years. Just check out the changes in the buildings which were done to make the thoroughfare more inviting for investors. There are a number of things going on with foreign investor participation and the young are really getting into trying things for themselves. I have been listening to the young people and they seem to know what they want and are ready to run after it. They are hampered here and there by parents who are interested in caution and safety which never made

The good in negativity...

With emphasis in the blog being on changing the mindset for positive lasting growth in this community Im sure many may wonder why such a title. Is there good in negativity? My grand mother used to say, "there are all kinds of good including no good and good for nothing." In the words of motivator (still motiving even after his death) Zig Ziglar, "some people find failure as if there is a reward in it". Bridge now open

The Sir Jack Hayward bridge opened on May 2, 2016 with some fanfare. I had to include the construction picture and then the final product with Sir Jacks family heading to a stop to spread Sir Jacks ashes. It was a touching day at all were reminded of the selfless work of Sir Jack and his insistence on having this bridge built to stop there ever being a cut of for the people in the east from the rest of Grand Bahama. Also there was a lot of talk about possible developments in the Barbary Beach area. Lets wait to see.

Pop up shops

Image
Pop up shops that I have in other countries are making their way here to Grand Bahama. This is the second Sip and Shop event that encouraged small entrepreneurs and their customers to get together to have eats and shop at the same time. Just in time for Mothers Day it appears the event will be even bigger than the first in Christmas. This is one way to get the word out on what these various businesses have for sale and to find unique items for Mom this year. The last time the proceeds were to go to Lupus... Well as its just next week... everyone have fun
