What is stopping us?

It's  Monday morning. Time to get up and produce and this morning the amount of good news was unbelievable. I woke up to the words, "Welcome to a Bright New Day" from a friend. Then I went to Instagram where I read, "I go for what I want. No Excuses. Note to self" from notetoselfinsta. As I read more I came across this post by before5am ' Money isn't your problem. A lack of production, commitment and consistent improvement is your problem" and it got me thinking. It's going to be a great day with new opportunities open and money should not be the problem. But here is what I read as I continued to read their post. "Excuses? Not today... Not this morning... Definitely not this week! "Money isn't your problem! "That's a story you made up years ago to help you cope with the sad reality that you're simply not performing at a high enough level and that your level of production, commitment and consistent improv...

Be a problem solver!

It's about over a week since the last post and in that time we have hosted the first Bahamas Womenpreneur Power Conference and Expo at the Pelican Bay Hotel in Freeport. Well the number of participants was not what we wanted but we had a number of vendors and over all I would deem it a success. Collaborating FSI, with Media Unlimited and Flipping Grand Bahama we did a lot of promotions online and some radio advertising, as well as newspaper articles. We learned a lot in putting on the event, and even more from the speakers on staring business, how to deal with the recently implemented Value Added Tax (VAT) and where funding is possible in The Bahamas. Again the aim of this blog is to be a game changer, to change the mindset of the people in the country and particularly on the island of Grand Bahama for us to change it into a successful little island. Of great importance we learned about the concessions implemented for the people living outside Freeport and those concess...

What is your influence?

Image
This morning I came across a quote by famous silent comedian Charlie Chaplin that made me smile, "Nothing is permanent in this world, not even our troubles." When I think of the state of Freeport, I take comfort in these words. And I think God is trying to tell me something because all around I keep hearing positivity ... maybe its just what I'm looking for purposefully, but from Instagrams' Prosperityquotes this morning I got these words, "do not worry about anyone's current position in life. Keep doing what you're doing and the end results will show. You can't lose focus on where you're going ... or else it'll be a disaster at the turning point." We are all looking forward to a better Grand Bahama. We have many thoughts on what would bring that about, but there is so much negativity and doubt that those with money would not put it in the economy to make it what it can be. We need to change the mindset. In the words of daily.do...

Potential... have we lost sight?

Image
It has been more than a little more than a month since my last post and I want to apologize and say that if you don't keep yourself pumped up, you can get lost in the fray of negativity. I love the words of Zig Ziglar who said, " People often say that motivation doesn't last.  Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily." I have found these words to be all too true as I got caught up in the world of negativity and lost sight of the potential of this blog, the readers and the island. Over the weekend I started reading a lot of motivational tid-bits and it got me to thinking again about this blog and its potential. On Instagram I came across a lot of sights that spew positivity and can really get you going. Some also have ideas on what you can do to improve you. This morning I came across this advice from aimfortheimpossible which said:  "You should always try to do things that other people won't do so eventually you will be ab...

Action!

Image
Back in action with the new programme to help, I was reading "Before 5am" a page I subscribe to on Instagram and it had a message that said, "Inspiration+Motivation=Action. Just was was needed as I began this journey to help others... as Zig Zigler says, you can get what you want if you help enough people get what they want. What did the article say? It stated that we all have moments of inspiration and for may of us it can even occur numerous times throughout the day. But, it said, most people never act on their moments of inspiration; that those great ideas and solutions and products just go to the grave with them or these persons later see someone else acting on those ideas. The article said we do not act on our inspiration because we have no reason to act, that there was no desperation to move. However it said, when you put Inspiration with Motivation then we are moved to action and we hear stories of rags to riches or people...
