Graduation season once again and just this morning I read an article from a young Bahamian woman who said that the professions that a young Bahamian can return home and find employment in are: law, medicine and accounting. I smiled to myself because she is right in a way. For many years I have been very concerned about the youth especially at this time when the world can begin to feel so vast and a future so very unclear. However everyone and so did I at first, have the notion that finding a job is the only way to go. In the industrial age that was most important and set you off on a career path that was easily tracked, but we are no longer in that age. We have reached the age of technology and in another few years it will be even more defined in robotics. Grand Bahama is coming back on track and some people are being encourage to be ready for everything. Passing by Port Lucaya today I noticed that the old Port Lucaya Resort has been completely torn down to make way for some thing new and exciting. It has been said that this is being done by the new owners for the Port Lucaya Marketplace. More exciting things on the lookout. This past week the Grand Bahama heard of a recent success business story which is well worth the sharing. It was the story of Bahamas Striping Ltd and Atario Micthell its president who began with the governments past venture capital programme called the "Start up Programme." He turned $5000.00 he said to millions and is presently giving back to the community. For the second year TEDx Talks is coming to Grand Bahama with just as great a set of talks. Now if you missed it last year I must say you missed a lot but here you can catch up. Back in action with the new programme to help, I was reading "Before 5am" a page I subscribe to on Instagram and it had a message that said, "Inspiration+Motivation=Action. Just was was needed as I began this journey to help others... as Zig Zigler says, you can get what you want if you help enough people get what they want. What did the article say? It stated that we all have moments of inspiration and for may of us it can even occur numerous times throughout the day. But, it said, most people never act on their moments of inspiration; that those great ideas and solutions and products just go to the grave with them or these persons later see someone else acting on those ideas. The article said we do not act on our inspiration because we have no reason to act, that there was no desperation to move. However it said, when you put Inspiration with Motivation then we are moved to action and we hear stories of rags to riches or people...

 Flipping Grand Bahama has been around for some two years now and we are now about to take it up a notch. We are starting a programme to help small businesses find necessary funding for some of their great projects. We have advocated over and over that people become entrepreneurs as a way to make Grand Bahama better. We say stop waiting to be rescued and just rescue yourself. As many, even I would say sometimes, but the funds are not there. I have checked out FSI and found the various ways to getting funding but I wanted to have even more fun with the idea. There is the thought of crowd funding and then there is another way of making a statement while helping others. For that statement we have ordered T-shirts that we are hoping our readers purchase online from which the proceeds will go toward assisting persons with viable business plans and ideas for a business in Grand Bahama.
