Can you start a business in 10 days in Freeport?

I came across this article recently and smiled gently to myself and thought... is this possible in Freeport?

So I had a look at what it had to say:

Day 1: Write a business plan: The article said this is a critical step to your success and that you might want to eschew the napkin for something a little easier to copy and distribute to potential investors and colleagues - Well I think this one we can do!

Day 2: Study the market. Hmmm in Freeport this is ok but not that easy. But you are advised to figure out where your products and services are and what rules and regulations are unique to your industry. But remember, there is such a think as overdoing it.

Day 3: Create a brand. I think thats easy. To build your identity you need a name, logo, a website and a social-media presence to get going.

Day 4: Get your legal affairs in order. This is also do able and now we are talking about expenses. But, hire an attorney to incorporate and draw up documents for legal agreements and ideas you want to trademark.

Day 5: Keep overhead low. (Very important). Keep startup costs at a level that gives you room to maneuver. If you have to work from home, or in an office space without furniture for a while, find a coffee shop or restaurant to frequent for your meetings. Keeping the need for a business license to start, remember you have choices. Freeport and outside Freeport and the prices involved.
Day 6: Network, network, network. Get the word out about your business anyway you can, from social media to a company launch event. Find the conferences and events you need to be at to meet fellow industry peers.
Day 7: Media exposure. Find the outlets and writers whose readership will be interested in your products and services and pitch them in an engaging and dynamic way. Another good idea. If its unique also get ZNS.
Day 8: Be your own self-fulfilling prophecy. If you think you can do this, you will.
Day 9: Focus on earning income. If possible, find a way to make some hires to help with the day-to-day tasks so you can focus no the big picture.
Day 10: Celebrate: Get feedback and be proud of yourself.
Yes these 10 are all well and good but people in other parts of the world where this was first written they don't seem to have to worry about a license. Here we struggle. We need either a government or a Port Authority License. For a Port Authority license you need a place to put the business, the power has to be inspected, the place has to be inspected and you have to pay for all of these inspections.

The truth is in Freeport we can't do it in 10 days.. .but this is a good starting list. I'd say it can take up to a month, taking into account the licensing process and a place for your business if your are in Freeport, and a license for The Bahamas.

But we are getting there and it really depends on the business. You need to make sure that you have your business plan in order to follow the plan as a true guide to your success and all the best to you!

What are you doing for you today?
