And on the positive side.... What is there to say about the future of Freeport? It's all positive. Created from a dream by one man, it is returning with the will and creative imagination of many who remembers the good ole' days. Freeport was planned strategically by investors in the 1950s and 60s, but today as technology and entrepreneurs look at the possibilities in pockets we see great things beginning to come together. Rumours persists of a sale of the Xanadu Resort and Marina but little is yet know if it is true and what will be come of the property that was once owned by Howard Hughes, U.S. tycoon, investor, inventor, aviator, aerospace engineer, film maker and philanthropist. Memories Resort is looking forward to full occupancy throughout the season and other persons are beginning to take a second look at Freeport seeing all its wonderful potential. My last two posts garnered a lot of interest and lots of comments. However together they were no match for the amount of people who read the "Bend or Break Speech." While writing and listening to the noise in the market it is somewhat easy to become discouraged, so I thought to myself, ask a question I normally ask of new found friends, What would you do if money were no object? This is a provocative question and reminds me of a question I get asked when I tell them what Ive done, "why don't you continue what you were doing?" I could say it's money that holds me back from some of the video productions or writing, but really its not.  I have the equipment and the knowledge, just afraid of not being accepted. Yes, for many projects the problem may be money. Say I want to buy Xanadu Beach Hotel, yes I'm  little shy of that $30 million and spare change. But Im not shy of meeting and talking with people who may have that kind of money who may want to ...

Whimsy and fanciful are feelings being expressed today and we explore the subject of "What Ifs...." Hmmm.... Where can I start. Yesterday talking with friends I realized that there could be sufficient jobs for those persons simply looking for jobs, if... And there would be other opportunities for middle men in all professions if.... What is this if? Well I can start by looking at something close to me.... golf courses. Now you may laugh and say what does the golf courses have to do with the economy of Grand Bahama? Once upon a time, Grand Bahama have about seven golf courses - Jack Tar, Shannon, Reef, Lucayan, Fortune, Ruby and Emerald. Today we have only three with a possible four - Reef, Ruby, Fortune and the non-functioning Old Bahama Bay which is actually almost ready. Where are the jobs? In the club houses, at their bars, cutting their lawns, maintaining their equipment, etc. Most of these are attached to hotels, but ... what about the hotels? Wait ...
