What is stopping us?

It's  Monday morning. Time to get up and produce and this morning the amount of good news was unbelievable. I woke up to the words, "Welcome to a Bright New Day" from a friend. Then I went to Instagram where I read, "I go for what I want. No Excuses. Note to self" from notetoselfinsta. As I read more I came across this post by before5am ' Money isn't your problem. A lack of production, commitment and consistent improvement is your problem" and it got me thinking. It's going to be a great day with new opportunities open and money should not be the problem. But here is what I read as I continued to read their post. "Excuses? Not today... Not this morning... Definitely not this week! "Money isn't your problem! "That's a story you made up years ago to help you cope with the sad reality that you're simply not performing at a high enough level and that your level of production, commitment and consistent improv...

How to change the world

I came across this title recently and thought, "well really, I only want to change Grand Bahama." But of course what also came to mind was Michael Jackson's song "Man in the Mirror". The way to change anything is to begin by changing yourself. Grand Bahama needs a change in thought, a change in direction, a change in mindset to envision a change in the economy. The real goal is the change in economy. I don't have all the answers, and for questions I don't have any answers, but I feel the way forward is for me to begin by making some necessary changes. So Ive listened to Napoleon Hill's book "Think and Grow Rich" which says essentially just thinking positively will help you to grow rich. I've listened to Zig Zigler, Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Joel Osteen, and watched and read "The Secret". Zig and Les both emphasized the need to not only listen to motivational speech just once, but to do so over and over and to read...

"Anything" is not a job!

What shall I write about today was something I was grappling with since Tuesday, even thought I knew of something that was coming. My motivators gave me a lot to write about but I thought, what really applies to Grand Bahama. Really… most of it. To "Flip" or change Grand Bahama, we need to start with the mindset of the people. This is what brought me to the topic this morning - "Anything" is not a job. Its nearing that time when thousands of young people all over The Bahamas will be graduating high school. Oh the choices, the ambition, the new life that is within each and every one. Some will get to go off to school and others will stay here looking for a job because of the pressures of life and parents. But what are their dreams? Even if you knew what your kids dreams were, would you help them with it or will you call it silly and say that with this economy it would not work? How open are you to the new era that is upon us and allowing young people to be ...

What makes you smile?

I got up with this thought in my head this morning, as I think of the possibilities of Grand Bahama. Do listen to Doris Day and get that positive feeling that we can do it! We can change Grand Bahama! And we can start with a mite just today. Ive been listening to people like  Dale Carnegie, Zig Zigler, Wayne Dyer,  Og Mandino,  Napoleon Hill  and Joel Osteen just yesterday and they all seem to have a message that a friend of mine recently told me as she faces tragedy - one day at a time. There is no such think as multi-tasking. You need to give what you are doing your all. Do it one day, one moment at a time. That is quite an eye opener. Another message everyone seem to have is that you need to have a dream/goal and to write it down, no matter how impossible it appears. Have something to aim for - set up your dart board, then put then dart in your hand a few paces back and go for it. Once you have written down this goal, the only way you will remember in th...
